She and Grandpa had been married for 58 years. They were inseparable. Grandma quietly battled dementia for decades but the last years were particularly tough. He carried her through it all with patience and love. On the night that she passed away, I sat with him in her hospital room. I will never forget what I saw that night; I could never imagine how that must've been for Grandpa - so I wrote this poem. I put it to music after Grandpa passed away the following year. The music video resurrects actual family footage from our VHS archives, and was filmed using the exact VHS camera that recorded the family footage decades ago.
